I was first diagnosed when I was 7 years old, I am now 16. At first I was frightened and I was confused but with the right help I was able to go on with life. I have overcome many tough challenges, I felt like I was an outsider and it made me feel bad but my friends where understanding and helped me along the way. People often ask me to tell them what Diabetes is but all I say is that it something that defines me as an individual and that it shows me the positives of life not the negatives. I try not to let it get in the way of my life but I struggle to maintain it by myself and am often lost as to what to do but I have a wonderful diabetes team to help me out of the tight spots. I thank them for being able to help me and would not be able to get along without them. It is important that you have a support team alongside to help because no one can manage diabetes on their own no matter how well they get along. Thank you.
